December 2020 marked the end of the first ever Black and Latinx Birders Scholarship cycle.

Our passion for opening up a space for equity began with our own experiences in education, conservation, birding, and our desire to “pay it forward”. We raise funds and grow partnerships as a way to amplify the future of STEM. Our goals were to fundraise with the intent to give two $5,000 scholarship awards and to allow for opportunities within the birding and conservation communities to contribute to creating spaces for EQUITY. Our primary goal was to give two $5,000 scholarships to Black and/or Latinx undergraduate students studying in STEM. We set out to raise $10,000 to support two scholarships and raised 160% of our goal. We were able to immediately identify the need for a Black and Latinx Birders Scholarship in our community. To the best of our knowledge, we are the first and only of its kind in the nation.
We welcome conservation, birding, and environmental organizations, and others, to join us in continue to build a robust and sustainable scholarship for the years to come. Send us a message or visit our sponsorship page to learn more.
